Manuka Ville - Manuka Honey UMF 15+

Manuka Ville Manuka Honey UMF 15+ 500g RM 159.00
( Group Deal promotion price RM 79, 2nd bottle RM 121 )

Earlier this week, I've shared about the benefits of manuka honey for both skin and health. In hopes to heal my irritable bowel syndrome, I managed to purchase these two bottle of manuka honey through a group deal a few months back.

I am a bit sceptical on dealing with any promotions on group deals site. However, to my surprise, the process was pretty easy with no hiccups. I was extremely pleased too with the customer service from Manuka Ville as they personally send my purchases right to my doorstep!  Not only that, dealing with them is a breeze ( they are very pleasant and friendly too ) and they are quick to respond to any questions pertaining to the promotion or their products. I praised them because these kind of customer services is a rare find in Malaysia!

It is my first time I heard of Manuka Ville, so I did a little background check on them before I made the purchase. Surprisingly, they are from an established background.

The Origins of ManukaVille UMF® Manuka Honey

ManukaVille UMF® Manuka Honey comes from the nectar gathered by honey bees from the flowers of the manuka trees (Leptospermum scoparium). Well-known to the indigenous Maori people of New Zealand for its healing properties, the manuka tree has been used for generations for a wide range of remedies.

To obtain manuka honey, beekeepers place their beehives in apiaries within the vast areas where the manuka trees grow naturally and uncultivated, in remote locations of both the North and South Island of New Zealand, far away from the populated areas. Great care is taken in sourcing so that the honey you get is supplied only by responsible beekeepers that are committed to practicing high standards and proper hives control where each batch and variety can be traced back to a specific region or a unique floral source.

How to Identify GENUINE UMF® Manuka Honey

The UMF® levels of a product can only be detected and determined through proper laboratory testing and the Honey Research Unit of the University of Waikato, New Zealand only endorses UMF®manuka honey with a UMF® level of 5+ or more as being able to provide the special non-peroxide antibacterial property. It is understood that the higher the UMF® level, the more special or effective the honey will be. If you wish to obtain more information on the research on UMF® honey in New Zealand, kindly visit this link : http://bio.waikato.ac.nz/honey

To provide our customers the assurance of a world-class quality product that meets international standards, each batch of ManukaVille UMF® Manuka Honey is carefully tested by a professional laboratory approved by the UMF® Honey Association (UMFHA) to ensure that the products meet the required quality standards and to ensure that they contain the UMF® levels as indicated on the label.

My Thoughts...

It is my first time ever consuming manuka honey so I really can't compare much. The consistency and colour is very, very different from the ordinary store bought honey. The store bought ones are yellow, semi thick and semi clear. For manuka honey, the consistency is thick, brown in colour and it is very naturally sweet.

I usually consume the manuka honey 'neat' in the mornings. As recommended by them, we are take 1-2 teaspoonfuls of undiluted manuka honey, 3-4 times a day, up to 30 minutes before each meal and before going to bed. It is advisable not to eat or drink anything within the 30 minutes too. For me, I adhere to the 30 minutes waiting period but so far, I have yet to take it 3- 4 times a day. :P

To date, my digestive system seem to be working alright but I know I need to take manuka honey for a longer period of time to have my system back to the regular mode. So far, as true to what it claims, it helped me with my sore throat and ward off colds as soon as I first felt it.

I have yet to try this as a mask because personally, I would rather take it internally than spreading the precious honey on my skin. Washing it off after 10-15 minutes seems a little wasteful for me. :P

So far, I am rather pleased with this product and it helps to know that their production practices and the honey are of high standards. Will definitely repurchase this again once I am done.

Notes: They are rather new in Malaysia and so far, I have spotted their products at Gourmet Food Hall @ Bangsar Shopping Centre.  You may e-mail them at sales@star-concept.com for their stockist list.

This item was purchased by me for my personal purposes. This review is based on my honest and personal experience with this product and is not influenced by any parties.

  1. my dad is a fan of manuka honey now ever since i bought it back from NZ for him. he had very bad sore throat one day and took manuka honey, then next day he was all recovered. btw, i was also told that it should be taken neat instead of diluting it like normal honey

  2. Yes, manuka honey has a lot of benefits. It is worth to invest. Apparently, diluting it with water will somehow 'kill' off the enzymes. :P

  5. Hi I chanced upon this old post of yours because my friends in Malaysia were asking me about this brand that is on promotion. I reside in NZ now and I don't recall seeing it. The UMF governing body has a website and I also didn't see it in the licensee listing: http://www.umf.org.nz/licensees
NZ company registration shows the company was registered and fully owned by a person with Chinese name, so I reckon the product may be produced here but specifically for export only. Yet I can't be sure how to check it's authenticity. Just to share with you this info.
