Review: Nature Republic Aloe Vera 92% Soothing Gel

Nature Republic Aloe Vera 92% Soothing Gel 300ml MYR 32.90

When I was down with eczema last year, my TCM practitioner recommended me to use pure aloe vera sap on my affected area. I stand today, healed from my eczema woes and I can honestly say that it WORKS! That, to me, has been the best discovery to date. ( Read more about it HERE )

It has since been a norm to me to use it to treat any skin related issues I encounter, be it pimple, dryness, or contact dermatitis. However, I only have one pot of my precious Aloe Vera plant at my home and it breaks my heart every time if I have to cut one of it's stems. Anyone who have a pot of Aloe Vera plant knows that it is painstakingly long for it to grow into full size.

To save my precious Aloe Vera from further agony, I went into Nature Republic one fine day and bought a tub of their best selling Aloe Vera Soothing Gel.

Review: Compressed Mask

Trikeel Face Mask 20 pcs MYR 9.90

Compressed mask are actually paper sheet mask in a pill form. There are a lot of these in the market and many used this in replacement of cotton pads for their Lotion Mask regime. I bought this from Sasa,  mainly for the hubs because the cotton pad method did not cover his face entirely. At that time, he was badly tanned because of work and to save his face from peeling, I know I need to do the Lotion Mask on him everyday, at least for the entire week.

Types of Masques and Usage for Sensitive, Dry, Dehydrated Skin.

Image from source

I am an advocate for hydration masques and firmly believe it makes a whole lot of difference to your skin condition if you incorporate them in your weekly skincare regime. Hydration, I believe, is the key to flawless skin. Back in 2011, my skin was not at it's best. It has lost the luster, the glow and though I had my regular facials, my skin was still dry and dehydrated. My skin tone was uneven, dull and my pigmentation grew 'darker'.

I decided then, I want a total change, both in my skincare products and routine. I started to incorporate in facial oils, serums, facescreen and exploring different types of masques. This change, has brought many surprises to many, even my facial therapist, stating that my skin looked so much better. The hydration is back...the glow too!

In these two years, amongst the routines and products, there are two from each group that gave me significant results. One was topical Vitamin C and another, diligent use of masques. These two has never failed me. For me personally, no amount of expensive serums or oils, can replace these two. That is why in this post, I am sharing with you simple, yet effective types of hydration masques that worked so well for me. Oh, and don't forget to exfoliate your face first before the masques!

Review: Phytopanama Daily Balancing Shampoo ( Oily Scalp )

Phytopanama Daily Balancing Shampoo ( Oily Scalp ) 200ml MYR 88.00

A couple of months back, I was told by a hairdresser that my scalp is prone to oiliness and that is one of the main causes of my 'on off ' dandruff affair. This new revelation has taken me aback because all the while, I thought my scalp was normal! Anyway, I was advised to use a shampoo, specifically for oily hair, and use it alternately with my normal shampoo.

I have decided to go back to Phyto, since their Phytoapaisant Soothing Treatment Shampoo did quite good for me.

Allergic Reaction Due to Product Ingredients ( Sensitive Skin )

Image from livestrong.com

Lately, I've been reading and hearing a number of stories about allergy reaction to certain ingredients found in some skin care products. Well, unfortunately, a few days ago, I had my share in one of those unfortunate episodes, thanks to a facial salon. My allergy reaction wasn't as bad as Juli's. Hers was bad and really unfortunate, but I admire her bravery for speaking out and sharing her experience, despite obtaining scars ( both physically and emotionally ) from it.

A few days ago, I went for my regular facial appointment and during that time, they were having some 50% discount on facial services and I decided to try a new facial programme and asked for a recommendation from my therapist. Well, she did and I went through it. Before I go on, I have been a regular with this facial salon for almost 7 years! Personally, I like to stick to one therapist, which I am comfortable with, as they will be able to know my skin better ( know the improvements and the bad as well ). I have recently changed to a new therapist and have been using her for 4 months. ( Please keep in mind, they have a record which indicates which products of theirs I am allergic to ) Since she is new to me, I have been harping to her that I can't use one of their anti-aging range, which is catered for mature clients and have told her that I have allergic reactions to it. She noted it and so far, she has been very careful not to introduce new products to my skin...until a few days ago.

Review: Kiehl's Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masque

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masque 125ml MYR 130

One of the essential part of my skin care routine are masks. If you are a follower of this blog, you may know that most of my masks are hydrating based. I love to incorporate different kinds of mask in a month, alternating with my yoghurt mask, lotion mask and my normal hydrating mask.

I used to love my Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Mask until recently, I found that they have changed the formula and the new formula contain some ingredients which I don't agree. As I was searching for an alternative, I stumble upon this one from Kiehl's.

Review: Clio's Eyeliner Range

From Top to Bottom: Gelpresso Waterproof Eyeliner Gel Liner in Chic Navy MYR 45.90
Gelpresso Waterproof Eyeliner Gel Liner in Beige Shine MYR 45.90
Waterproof Turnliner Twistturn in Urban Khaki MYR 62.90
Waterproof Pen Liner in Kill Black MYR 55.90

As I have mentioned before, one of my essentials for makeup is my eyeliner. I pretty much stuck with my Lancome Artliner for many many years and never thought of abandoning the ship until I found these. I initially started with the Gelpresso Gel Liner in Chic Navy and the Pen Liner in Kill Black. The Chic Navy had me with one swipe, followed by the Kill Black. And then...they were having some sales at Watson's with 15%-30% Discounts and I knew I had to get more of these!

Gelpresso Waterproof Eyeliner Gel Liner

Personally, I much prefer liquid eyeliners with felt tip than pencils. I had many bad experiences with the pencils as most it kinda drags your eyelids when you try to draw a good line and most smudges easily, giving you the dreaded panda eyes.

Review: Antipodes Kiwi Seed Oil Eye Cream

Antipodes Kiwi Seed Oil Eye Cream 30ml MYR 178

After actively using eye creams or serums since 2 years ago, it dawned to me that it is something that one should not neglect. It is essentially as important as your serums or creams for face. Many close friends or family I know, still have not started using eye cream or eye serums because they feel that it is not something important to concentrate on. If you are aware, most people will comment " You looked tired. Is everything ok?" or " You didn't sleep last night ar?" just by looking at your eyes area. They wouldn't look at the condition of your skin and ask those questions, would they?

Most also claim that eye serums or creams are sometimes more expensive than for the face itself. Honestly, I have to agree with them on many 'ridiculously priced' eye creams available in the market. With that comment, it brings me to this item, which I am going to review. Well, you've certainly seen a few reviews I've done under the Antipodes brand and finally, this will be the last lot of product. I bought this ( on a discounted price of course ) when I ran out of my DeVita Eye Cream. I was very, very reluctant to purchase this initially because if the price tag but buckled when given a fair amount of discount.

Review: Neogence Clarifying & Hydrating Make-Up Removing Liquid

Neogence Clarifying & Hydrating Make-Up Removing Liquid 200ml  MYR 26-24 (Discounted )

Of late, I have been putting on make-up and honestly, I enjoy it! I am not those who wears heavy make-up with absolute heavy coverage, but with my essentials like concealer, pressed powder, eyeshadow, blusher and my absolute must: liquid eyeliner.

Because of my oily lids, I need a heavy duty liner, to last at least for 5 hours. I have found one ( review coming up ) and you know how it is, heavy duty ones requires a good make-up remover to remove it. I used to like Lancome's Bi-Facil makeup remover, which I thought is the only best eye makeup remover in the world! However, I was not keen on the price, hence begin a look out for other alternatives...and I stumbled unto this at Sasa.
