Sample EO Soothing Shower Gel French Lavender
I just adore the smell of lavender and any product which carries the scent of lavender, will be the first to be picked up by me. This scent really puts me in a calming and relaxing mode, which I am so in need of those these days.
I picked up this shampoo during my July haul from Milagro Trading as I have heard some pretty good reviews about this product. I was also interested in trying their shower gel and was pretty happy that Milagro Trading managed to give me a sample of this for me to try.
I am pretty new to EO, though they have been around for 16 years and hails from Marin County, CA of USA. EO is a family owned and operated, Certified Organic Manufacturer of personal care products using the highest grade of natural and certified organic ingredients. EO products certainly sounds pretty impressive and does their product worked well for me?

My Experience
When I first started using it 2 months back, the first thing that I was impressed was packaging. The bottle is sturdy and even though it is made in plastic, it is hard and not flimsy as to other plastic bottles. It has a easy flip top opening and the packaging do looked very modern.
The shampoo itself is clear semi thick gel and smells wonderfully lavender! A little goes a long way and a 20 cent size is enough for my long hair. It foams rather well and I do not need to rewash for the second time. This shampoo indeed cleans my hair well. The only gripe about it is that the scent doesn't last. It comes...and it goes. I find out that it is pretty common for any natural / organic based products.
What I like about this shampoo is that it does not weigh my hair down, it gives volume to my hair and it makes my hair very managable after blow drying. Plus, my scalp feels clean and not oily, even till the next day.
After 2 weeks, though I still enjoy oil free scalp and volume to my hair, I do noticed that my hair is rather dry at the ends. ( I still apply my hair serum after every wash ). However, to solve this problem, I use this shampoo alternately with another one.
Overall
I must say I quite like it. What I really love about this shampoo is that it doesn't give a limp my hair at the end of the day, it give me more volume to my hair and keeping my scalp free from oil and flakes. However, what I don't like is - it will dry out my hair ends and the scent doesn't last. With this, I am giving it a 4 out of 5.

My Experience
The gel is the same consistency with the shampoo, which is clear and semi thick. It foams pretty well and the scent of lavender is strong upon lathering but sadly, it smell doesn't linger.
I do feel that it cleans pretty well...rather too clean for me as I do feel that my skin is squeaky clean. For those who like this feeling, this gel is for you. Unlike Burt's Bees, this shower gel is not moisturizing enough for me. My hubby did tried it and sadly, he didn't like it either.:P
Overall
This shower gel is rather dissapointing to me. I didn't really like it, my husband didn't either and by the looks of it, it will not have it's place in our bathroom. I think I will rate a dissapointing 1 out of 5.
This item was purchased by me for my personal purposes. This review is based on my honest and personal experience with this product and is not influenced by any parties.
I've always wanted to try any of the EO shampoos. I have a rather problematic scalp. My scalp gets oily easily, I have a wavy yet usually limp, fine hair with dry ends and I get dandruff with almost any shampoo. So it's really an 'adventure' looking for the right shampoo for me.
ReplyDeleteGosh, your problem is almost identical to mine and finding the 'right' shampoo is almost impossible, right?
ReplyDeleteI think you might like this shampoo because of the volume it gives and also keeping your oily scalp at bay. However, you might need to use a good leave-on conditioner for your hair ends though.
Sounds like a great shampoo! Was wondering if it would help with itchy and flaky scalp? I have tried a few natural shampoos but they don't seem to help with the itchiness. :/
ReplyDeleteHi there! Yeah, this shampoo is rather good actually and I can relate with you on your situation. To avoid itchy and flaky scalp, I would recommend washing your hair everyday with this ( this method works for me ).
ReplyDeleteHope this shampoo would be able help you:)
I've never tried their soothing shower gel...tried the normal and I love it. My favorite is the geranium one. Love their shampoos also. You've got me looking at the brand all over again.
ReplyDeleteHaha..honestly, I find the shampoo better than the shower gel.:P The next shampoo that I am keen to try is the rose and chamomile.
ReplyDeleteI have extremely fine hair and use Rose and Chamomile Shampoo and Conditioner which suits my hair beautifully, leaving it clean but not stripped out of natural oils like most commercial shampoos. Unfortunately, the UK stockist has gone out of business and hopefully a new one will be found soonest. I have a full bottle of each at present, but that won't last for ever. Fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteOh, it's a pity to hear that the UK stockist is out of business. NVM dear, on line shopping is always there for you :D
ReplyDeleteYou can find 1 litre bottles of EO shampoo and conditioner in TK Maxx for £7.99. What a bargain! Got the rosemary and mint conditioner today. They also sold the lemon verbana (sp) shampoo and conditioner.
