( Part 1 ) Treating My Dry & Chapped Lips: Eucerin Lip Active

Back in December, my lips were in pretty bad condition. It first started with some little tiny dots on my upper lips and later in a few weeks, my entire lip area went dry, red and the skin surrounding it began to peel off...and it bled!

Off I went to see the doctor but he could not determine what could have caused it because rashes or allergy is pretty tricky. At that time, I conditioned it with my 'almost finished ' Moogoo lipbalm and surprisingly, this time, it did nothing at all. So, new opportunity arises to go hunting for another safe and reliable lip balm. This time, I bought 2! The first one that I bought is this....

Eucerin Sensitive Skin Lip Active 4.8g MYR 13.40

I chose Eucerin over the rest because I personally find this brand to be pretty reliable. I am currently using  their Dermatoclean Cleansing Milk and loving it a lot. This brand score big in my books because it is especially catered to those who have sensitive skin.

Ok, before I go further, here is a picture of my lip condition.

See those peeling? In fact, this picture shown an improvement of 30% from my previous state. So you can imagine how bad it was.

My Experience

This lip balm is unscented and packaging is like our ordinary lipstick. I must say that this packaging much better than the Moogoo one. When applied to my dry chapped lips, I was happy that it didn't give me any tingling sensation because my lips was really sensitive at that time. Score 1!

Now, in terms of their moisturizing level, well...I find that Moogoo lip balm is more moisturizing than this one. With Moogoo, it usually will last me 5-6 hours. But with Eucerin, I need to apply every 2 hours. That being said however, it did helped me to keep my lips area from becoming worse. The flared up at my lip area is much better in control and the peeling is dramatically reduced. Yay!

Overall

I wouldn't say that this lip balm is 'world's best' but it is decent. I like that it really says that it is catered for sensitive skin and this lip balm did helped to keep my lip area from aggravating further. Perhaps, I would like it even more if it is able to keep my lips area moisturised for longer hours. So, at the meantime, this lip balm is just nice for my day time use.

This item was purchased by me for my personal purposes. This review is based on my honest and personal experience with this product and is not influenced by any parties.

  1. Oh my, that is pretty bad chapped lips. I have not tried Eucerin lip balm. My most trusted one is Carmex moisturizing lip balm. I am not sure if it's sold in M'sia, my sister said she cannot find it in Spore. Carmex works for my chapped, wind burned lips. It works wonderful especially on days I don't drink enough water, my upper lips will stary turning red, sore and dry. Carmex will do the job.

  3. I oso get the bright red dots all over my lips, and they burn then peel... don't know the cause but moisturizing lip balm do help to calm it. Sometimes i get cracked lip corners too, out of a sudden they juz split when i open my mouth to eat. So frust !! For cracked lips corners, washing my lips ( yes, washing with water ) after every meal helps a lot. If u know the cause to the red dots on lips, pls share ya... Thnx !

    1. Hey Bugs! What you are experiencing is the same I went through last week and all these are signs of ezema. My case is likely allergy to seafood. My advise is: please seek medical attention as soon as possible. Because of my ignorance, it spreads around my mouth area! On tip though, use pure shea butter to lubricate your lips helps a lot and speeds up healing. However, avoid licking your lips as it will dry and cause your lips to chap.

    2. It's good to know someone knows n understands what i felt. Thank you...yes, seems out of sudden i'm kinda allergic to many food now... so i have to eat very carefully n make sure no spoon or food touches my lips and oso wash my lips n mouth after every meal. It's funny my lips are super sensitive but not my mouth... ^_^

My lips condition is now under control, they were peeling+burning+red+cracked+itchy....all of a ugly lips few months back. And 1 pricey lip balm (RM190) that soothe n healed my lips previously gave me those red dots n burning lips now. I'm sticking with my washing.... haha

  4. Hi,

I used to have pretty bad cracked and chapped lips some years ago. Ever since I start taking Lysine my problem went off. You can find out more about lysine + vitamin C. You can get lysine from Australia. Any brands will do.
