Review: Avene Thermal Spring Water

Avene Thermal Spring Water 50ml x 3 bottles MYR 36.00

When my eczema came back again, my face became more sensitive, especially around my mouth area. During that time, I was still using my Dermalogica toner and because of the sensitivity, this toner seemed to sting the eczema area.

I came across Avene Thermal Spring Water because I have heard so many raves on how it helped to calm sensitive skin and even to healing for some. Many even claimed this to be a Holy Grail item! Yes, I was definitely intrigued and I desperately want to see healing comes on my eczema case.

Product Description

Avène Thermal Spring Water is the key ingredient for all Avene products. The unique properties in the water assist in its ability to cleanse, soothe and calm mild to highly sensitive skin. With both health and beauty benefits this product can be used to tone the face as well as offer relief to inflamed skin.

Benefits

  • Health and beauty benefits
  • Soothes and calms sensitive skin
  • Suitable for all degrees of sensitivity
  • Offers instant relief
  • Gentle enough for use on face and body
  • Suitable for infants and adults

Avene Thermal Spring Water also soothes skin after hair removal or in complement to drying treatments. In addition, it has a spectacular effect on razor burn, diaper irritations, itching and eczema.

My Experience

I know that some people uses this to refresh their skin or set their makeup, but I use this morning and night as a toner. I use the tapping method to assist in absorption prior to applying my oils and serums. So far, I am happy to report that it didn't sting my sensitive mouth.

Strangely, I find that if I leave it on my skin to dry naturally, my skin will tighten slightly. Also, I find that it further aggravates the dryness on my eczema area by doing this. I am not sure it is only me or that others have experienced this as well. The whole feeling is slightly uncomfortable to me.

Other than acting as a toner to soothe and provide hydration to skin, I do not see what else this product can do, really. Yes it does not aggravate sensitive areas but it certainly did not have any effect on my eczema. Of course, I don't rely on this as a cure but I do not see any improvements on my mouth area. It didn't really calm the condition. Sad!

Overall

After using it for 2 months, I find that there is nothing to shout about this product. This only works as toner for me. Probably in my case, it seems.

This item was purchased by me for my personal purposes. This review is based on my honest and personal experience with this product and is not influenced by any parties.

  1. hello there :) i think the dryness is quite common with these facial mists because they evaporate along with the existing moisture on your face. i have this too and i use it just before moisturizer when my skin is still damp with the mist - it helps absorb skincare better somehow :) agree that there's nothing much to rave about this product though!

    1. Hi Germs! Yeah, I slap on my facial oils just when my face is feeling damp. I was actually experimenting it by leaving it to dry to test if it really evaporates:)
