Review: Moogoo Milk Shampoo

MooGoo Milk Shampoo 500ml MYR 59.90

I have irritated, oily and flaky scalp and it makes it very hard for me to find the right shampoo. After the Esmeria shampoo failed on me ( gave me oily scalp ), I decided to venture out to my fave local drugstore to look for an alternative. I was torn between Sukin and Moogoo, and decided to chose the latter since I've got positive results from using items from the brand. Moreover, at the front of the bottle, it says " Scalp & Hair Friendly-No Itchy Scalp, No Dandruff, Natural Cleansers".

Let's see if this performs.....

Product Description

A mild cleanser is the most important way to avoid scalp irritation. Moogoo's main cleansing ingredient has virtually the same irritation factor as water. Made from sugar. This cleanser is one of the most environmentally friendly available.

Ingredients: Purified water. Gentle cleansers: Decyl Glucoside and Cocoyl Glucoside, Sodium Cocyl Sarconsinate and Sodium Laurylamphoacetate and Cocobetaine. To Improve Hair and Scalp Health: Glyceryl Oleate, Glycol Distearate Guarsilk, Piroctone Olamine, Allantoin, Milk Protein. Fragrant Oil( Phthlate Free ).

Just food for thought, doesn't the product description sounds a bit weird? Moogoo's main cleansing ingredient has virtually the same irritation factor as water.

My Experience

The shampoo is creamy but with a slightly runny consistency. With this shampoo, I usually need to wash my hair twice. My first wash would be mainly for the scalp and secondly, working from scalp to hair ends. Because this is a gentle shampoo, it does not foam as much as regular shampoos do. In fact, this has minimal foam if compared with the Esmeria and the EO Shampoo.

The smell is pleasant, somewhat reminds me of baby talc and has an identical scent as their Udder Cream. After rinsing, I was surprised that it leaves my hair pretty soft, while not weighing it down. As I read the ingredients again, this shampoo contains glycol Distearate Guarsilk, which is a conditioner.

I started using this in mid-January and happy to report that not only it keeps my scalp clean ( no oily scalp ), it keeps the irritation and dandruff at bay. Please note that I can't give the credit entirely to this shampoo because I did a scalp treatment before this.

However, just as I was happy with the results and almost proclaim this shampoo as my HG, I started to develop some light irritation with tiny flakes and slightly oily scalp come end February. It went on for two weeks and then, the situation calmed again after that. So, this is a on and off affair for me!

I must mention too about one thing I about this product...the packaging is awful! The opening is a flip top and always spills each time if I were to dispense. To get a clearer picture, here's how it  looks like.

Overall

Like I mentioned earlier, this shampoo is a on off love affair for me. I love it when it delivered results but hate it when the irritation or oily scalp comes again. I am not sure if this has something to do with 'hormonal effects'. That being said, however, I find this shampoo much better than the previous ones I've tried.

This item was purchased by me for my personal purposes. This review is based on my honest and personal experience with this product and is not influenced by any parties.

  2. I feel so bad for you. I know how it feels not to be able to find the right products that work. Especially after all that money spent.

This Moogoo shampoo and conditioner actually worked for me. Visibly less hair fall and no flaky scalp. Plus my hair really felt light. Love it. I use this on and off with my other all natural shampoos. :)

    1. Hi Chui Shia! Good that this worked for you. Funnily, I also noticed that my hair fall less when using this but then, the oily scalp and flakes came on and off. Sigh!

  3. Wanted to try this shampoo since i like the Milk Wash so much but din get it becoz of the size and oso the cap. And I don't think I have sensitive scalp to need the shampoo. I have fine limp hair with oily scalp but sometimes it itches, hmm... is that sign of sensitive scalp ?

I like Yuan Shampoo for my oily scalp, it smells like the yellow Hacks candy. But what I don't really like about that shampoo is that as per the name in chinese meaning "Head Washing Water", it really is water, so you gotta be real quick to slap the water on your hair...

    1. Hi Bugs! Yeah, I like the Milk Wash too. Not sure if yours is sensitive scalp but using a natural shampoo will help to lessen the oiliness and itchiness though. Have heard of Yuan but have yet to try. Heard that it's quite rough to the hair?

    2. Rough...emmm, i'm not sure on that but it has lots of foam unlike other organic or natural brands which normally are less foamy. The 1 thing i noticed from Yuan shampoo is that my scalp don't have the oil stench the next morning. I wash my hair daily btw, but with some other shampoo, my scalp is oredy oily n stinky the next morning in which i sometimes shampoo my hair twice a day( i do the finger test: stick my fingers onto my scalp, rub around few times n see the oil film on my finger tips and they smell bad ) >_<

Oh the Milk Shampoo cap, maybe I can change the Milk Wash pump to the shampoo bottle since I've finished so many Milk Wash... hmmm

  4. having read most of the raved reviews and i was convinced that this might be the 'one' shampoo that i was searching for my itchy scalp! but sadly, this didn't work for me. The itchiness was crazier than ever. I tried loving it but it just won't work.it's now sitting in a pile of sad n lonely shampoo corner.

  5. We asked men about what makes a woman look either classy or messy? Strikingly, all of them recalled one thing- their hair do! Interestingly your hair, the most forgotten beauty asset, is your most important beauty tip that you often forget to take care of. But all of the girl gang has their basics right- shampooing. Probably not? Let’s check out.
