Review: MVO Moisture Serum

MVO Moisture Serum 30 ml USD 80

Many months back, I had a great experience trying out a sample of the Moisture Serum from MVO. It left such an impression on me that I knew I had to purchase the bottle in full in my next haul.

I have been faithfully using this serum every night for the past 3 months and I think it is due time to give a full review on this.

Before I write my thoughts, here's what MVO says about this product:

Product Description
  • Nourishes skin, improving tone and texture with niacinamide, carrot seed oil, vitamin E and beta glucan
  • Brightens with uva ursi and elderberry extract
Ingredients:
Camellia sinensis (green & white tea), Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba oil), Prunus armeniaca (apricot kernel oil), Vitus viniferi (grapeseed oil, expeller-pressed), Rubus idaeus (red raspberry seed oil), vegetable glycerin, arabinogalactin, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), kombucha extract, Sambucus nigra (elderberry) extract, dipotassium glycyrrhizate (licorice) extract, uva ursi (bearberry) extract, gum tragacanth, potassium sorbate, xantham gum, Cosmocil CQ*, Lonicera japonica (honeysuckle), niacinamide, beta glucan, Rosemary oleoresin, Cistus incanus (cistus) essential oil, Daucus carota (carrot seed) essential oil, Lavendula angustifolia (lavender) essential oil.

My Thoughts

With a longer period for me to fully experience this serum, I began to see a new light to this product. Other than having this serum that smells great like fresh leaves, this serum is WOW! I really, really adore this serum so much that I like this more than the Anti Aging Oil.

What I really like about this serum is that it always leaves my skin soft and smooth to touch. Both my cheeks are seriously like mini baby's bottom! It also never fails to hydrate my skin, leaving it plump and bouncy the day after. This serum is just perfect for me because it does not break out on me. It somehow balances my skin well and I have been experiencing good skin condition since I incorporated this serum into my regime. Not only that, it always makes me look fresh with a glow every morning even at times when I have some late nights. Sound like a power serum, isn't it?

This serum reminds me very much of Estee Lauder's Hydrationist...except that this Moisture Serum is way much better because the hydration last longer. Sometimes, I may just skip this serum for 2 days and just stick with the Anti Aging Oil. Even for the 2 days, the hydration level of my skin remained.

My regime:

Night

Routine: Cleanse: Double Cleanse with Trilogy Cream Cleanser and Dermalogica Ultracalming Cleanser > Toner: Dermalogica Multi Active Toner > Eye: GoW Eye Majik Cream > Serum: Marie Veronique Moisture Serum > Moisturise: Marie Veronique Anti Aging Oil+ ( 1 drop )

Overall

I personally think this is an underrated product and it is a hidden gem amongst the other serums in the MVO range. This is a great serum to have for anyone who is experiencing dry or dehydrated skin. I think this is great too for those who wish to boost back some hydration level to their skin. I foresee that this serum will remain as a staple in my skincare regime and I have already purchase 2 bottles during the cyber monday sale recently ( P/S: MVO was offering 25% off their entire line on cyber monday )! This serum clearly deserves a 5 out of 5 rating.

This item was purchased by me for my personal purposes. This review is based on my honest and personal experience with this product and is not influenced by any parties.

  1. I am using this serum now...I like it but I don't really get the wow feeling. However, the hydration is good. I only realized it because this week, I started trying some new samples and noticed my skin felt drier. I'll go for this vs the Skin Lightening Serum becos of the price. The ingredient list is great too.

  2. Hi Sesame! Hmm, guess it works differently for me.:) Same as you, it gives good hydration for the skin. In terms of pricing, this is definitely a better choice than the Skin Lightening Serum.

  3. I'm using a sample of this serum. And just like you, I LOVE the moisture it gives my skin. It's a perfect company to AAO. But I'm yet to give it a review, because I think I need some more time for a unbiased review.

By the way, I can't believe you only use one drop of AAO, because I have to use 2 or 3 squirts when the weather is dry.

  4. Hi Amanda! This is definitely one of my fave of MVO products. Just like you, this serum is like a moisture booster to us. When I first started AAO in April, I used 2 squirts and on top of that, I add a drop of Rosehip oil. That time, my skin was really dry and dehydrated. After using it consistently for 5 months, my skin went back to normal and not as dry as it used to. That's why, 1 drop is suffice for me.:)

  5. Hi Alexandra, just wondering... how does it compare to Lightening Serum in terms of texture? From my experience, the lightening serum sometimes forms into a sticky gel on the face especially when I apply too much and not sure whether the Moisture serum is more oil-based or has a gel-like texture...

    1. Hi Vivi! For texture wise, both seems almost alike but Lightening Serum have some fine 'gritty' bits with stickiness. For the Moisture Serum, it absorbs much faster than LS but you may find that it still has some sticky feel to it, though not as much as the LS. I find MS has a lighter weight in consistency than LS. My way of application for both serums is tap-tap.
