Review: Marie Veronique Organics Skin Lightening Serum

Marie Veronique Organics Skin Lightening Serum 30ml USD 140

Pigmentations are usually very common among many fair skinned girls and recently, we have seen many new launches of whitening products by big brands, addressing these problems. I am plagued with this problem as well but I usually shy away from using whitening products as I have heard many testimonials on the side effects. However, my pigmentation on my cheek area is really bugging me and I have decided to approach this issue using natural based products. I am glad that MVO do offer products that adresses this issue and I have decided to take a plunge in trying out one of them, which is their Skin Lightening Serum. Continue to read on to see if this is a yay or nay for me.

My Experience

This is the first for me to venture into lightening products and I am worried how it is going to fare for me. Will I have breakouts or that it will make my 'already dehydrated' skin even drier? I've heard that this is the common effect of using whitening products. I am glad that the nice people at MVO advised me to use this serum only at night, on top of my Anti Aging Oil and in the day, to wear my suncreen. However, I would usually wear my moisturiser on top of the serum, just to ensure that my skin will not dry out.

1st week: The serum is light ash in colour, smells a little medicinal but I love it. I use 2 pumps of this serum during the 1st week on alternate days. I've taken the advise from Sesame of Viva Woman to use it on alternate days as my skin is sensitive as well. So far so good, no breakouts or sensitivity to product. I do feel that my skin is slightly dry using this but I know that partly, my skin is dehydrated at this moment.

2nd week: Reduce to 1 pump instead of 2. I noticed that my skin tone is even and not as dull as before. My skin is more hydrated now and I do not feel the tight feeling anymore. However, my pigmentation on my cheeks remain unchanged.

3rd week: My skin tone is further lightened and I looked fresh and clean. I like that it makes my skin tone healthier. During this time, I incorporated a drop of rosehip oil together with my Anti Aging Oil and this may further lightens my skin tone and provide extra moisturisation.

4th week: I am certain that my skin tone has lightened about 20% and I do look much healthier and glowing. Yay! My pigmentation marks are not so obvious anymore and I would say that it has lightened about 10% so far.

You may see the changes of my skin tone and pigmentation marks below.

Overall

I am giving this product a rating 4 out of 5 because I like the results that this serum has given me over a month. My face is looking healthier and glowing, not dull as it used to. However, I still doubt that if it will eliminate all my pigmentation marks but will certainly lightens it. Honestly, I am unsure if I would repurchase this product again because the price is pretty steep for a 30ml bottle! This is the first time for me to spend such a high amount on a single product. I think I would go for their Skin Lightening Vitamin C Supplement on my next haul as the price is almost half to this.

This item was purchased by me for my personal purposes. This review is based on my honest and personal experience with this product and is not influenced by any parties.

    1. Hi Nami. Yes, it is a very good serum, despite being expensive. They do have promotions but you need to subscribe to their blog in order to know the latest promotions. If you are uncertain of Vit C (due to sensitivity ), perhaps investing in this serum would be a better choice.

  2. My skin is combination and sensitive. Although Im not teenager anymore, I suffer from blemish and acnes. I have used Rose Hip Oil. I find it's really helpful to my skin, special my scars. However it can just do modarate effect. I see no more improvement in my skin. Do you think I should use this oil (I'm 23 year old. I want to fade my scars as much as possible)

    1. Hi Anna. This particular serum is a mixture of oil and others. It works more to even out and lightening of overall skin tone. Should you want a more focused lightening of scars, Vit C works much, much better. Because your skin is sensitive, it is better to use the Vit C, mixed up with any of MVO serum and dab on the particular spot. ( You can read my review on the Vit C )
