Review: Marie Veronique Organics Moisturizing Face Screen SPF 30

Marie Veronique Organics Moisturizing Face Screen SPF 30 60ml USD 40

Wearing any form of facescreen has never been an important part of my daily skincare regime. I have always thought that cleanser, toner and a good moisturiser is enough to maintain my skin. Things changed when I discovered that my pigmentation increased on my cheeks and worst still, it grew darker and some bigger. I started wearing facescreen three years ago and yes, it did offered some protection but my pigmentation didn't get any lighter. Recently, I discovered Skin Deep ( a cosmetic database ) and came to know that my facescreen contains Oxybenzone, which is a hazardous ingredient, according to EWG standards. From there, I came across Marie Veronique Organics Facescreen, which is one of the safest in the world. Just recently, EWG released its 2011 Suncreen Guide and this facecreen is listed as one of the top 25 safest suncreens available in the market. So did this facescreen worked for me?

My Experience

I ordered the No Tint version because I like to look more 'Au naturale' throughout the day. This facescreen comes in a brown glass bottle with an easy to use pump. On my first day, I used this on top of my Anti Aging Oil and moisturiser. 1 pump is sufficient for me to apply liberally on my face. It was quite hard for me to blend in the facescreen initially as it leaves a slight white cast on my face. But after a while, the facescreen kinda sinks in and it looked quite alright. However, my lovely hubby commented why my face is unusually white on the first day!*gasp... he notices*

Ok, aside from the medicinal scent ( which I grew to love ), I did feel that my face was rather dry and tight. I figured that it should be normal because my face was dry and dehydrated at that time. However, after a few weeks, thanks to the Anti Aging Oil and weekly exfoliation, my hydration level increased significantly and applying the facescreen is like a breeze to me! I no longer need to apply my moisturiser after the oil and I will go straight to the facescreen. I also love the matte finish it gives and it doesn't make my face shine.

Overall
After using this facescreen for slightly more than a month, I am happy to say that my pigmentation is under control. No new spots and seems to be lighter ( part of this is because I am using their Skin Lightening Serum as well ). It even out my face tone too. I am giving this a rating of 5 out of 5 because I have finally found a safe facescreen that works out for me and this is one of the products that I will definately repurchase.

Note: To those who haven't started using facescreen in your daily regime, I strongly advise that you will do so. This is to protect your skin from further damage due to the sun. Using this facescreen is a good start because it contains non-nano zinc oxide, which is better than titanium dioxide ( Read it HERE )

  1. Yup, definitely loving this... :) It was challenging at first but I grew to love this because it kept my unsightly pigmentations under control. Recently, I had a bad outbreak and the zinc oxide also helps dry my pimples out faster.

  5. hi, thanks for sharing. I always wanted to try MVO sunscreen but noticed only extra light tinted, light tinted and medium tinted available. Can I know where do you get the untinted sunscreen? Besides, do u think it is advisable to use make-up remover for tinted sunscreen (since it's still act as a foundation) or a basic cleansing (milk and foam) will do?

    1. Hi! The untinted suncreen is now call extra light tint. I bought mine before the made some changes to the name.
Yes, it is always advisable to double cleanse when using suncreen. My method is cleanse with cleansing milk in the 1st cleanse and followed by a foaming/gel cleanser. Or you may want to cleanse with cleansing oil 1st, followed by cleansing milk/gel.
